Hi again Sirs, here are the links of the edited icon design..I made 2 versions and made the adjustments as suggested. Thanks a lot!

-made the M more vertical, toned down the green background and replaced the dollar symbol with X

Your icons looks good. IMHO they a bit complex (the logo contains too many elements.
Could you try to create something like this:

It may be more wide stripe with some element in the middle looks like X.

Some elements are to small and thin to be readable after downscaling. See 32x32 example:

I think this is wrong direction.

Old composition of $ sign and green color has simple meaning: money.
Letter M and green color is meaningless. Could be mobile, mail, money, moon. mum, milk...

Money/finance is the most important part of the visual identification for MMEX. It could be supplemented by my/personal and management/control symbols. We should preserve green theme too.

New icon must be clean (few colors, simple shapes), scalable to low-resolution bitmaps and multilingual/multiculture.

@vomikan, the icon number 3 resembles my suggestion, except that I thought an X could be a currency sign on a coin (something like this), which would be a universal sign for money, not just a Dollar. Other than that, I agree with @slodki's comments here. I've also listed the concern for how the icon looks when small. Which is paradoxical, because then my idea is fairly complex to look good in small size. It was mainly a suggestion to see if @Tobaloidee could come up with something, using his artistic skills.

Here's a simple sketch of the idea. I like the original tribal lines on the big letter M.

In which case there could be some overlapping of two M letters, in the same styling. i.e.

Focused on money: my_mmex_icon3

Just like any of these. What about assets and securities?

BTW there should be place for notification mark to not cover important part of the icon. Somebody can display notification mark over icon placed on smart phone main screen to pay attention to background events like new transaction on bank account detected, recurring transaction deadline etc.

Obviously, one of the first decisions to make is whether the focus is to have the logo make an association with money (like so many others do) or to be unique and distinguished from others (like so many others do).
In that sense, I would prefer the second option. People tend to use one application for a specific purpose and they know what the icon is. They don't necessarily need to be reminded constantly. Still, for a logo, a beautiful design is crucial.

One other thing to consider, that might satisfy both requirements, would be to make the whole logo resemble a surface of a coin. Then the empty inner space could contain the stylized MMX without other direct references to finance. Something like this or

(your favourite, @slodki )
with the star outer circle like above, for example, and the logo suggested earlier being in the inner circle.

And, since there's no need for an extra coin reference, I'd go with the original tribal pattern, approximately:

(this is coming rotated probably due to EXIF but you know what I mean, I hope).

Here is @Tobaloidee's reasoning, for reference:

An additional question: the green could be more lighten.

It's too dark and I can't read the lines because it's dark gray on dark green background.

@Tobaloidee, would it be too much to ask for two small adaptations:

  1. adjust the colours to match the current app icon - basically, two shades of green. The black creates too strong a contrast, I believe.
  2. adjust the X to be less flat and fit with the styling of M letters, i.e. use something along the lines of
    But basically your call.

adjusted colors too Sir

@alensiljak

alensiljak commented Mar 29, 2018

Thanks for your work!

I still prefer the curvy lines in this sample.
The big X in the latest iterations is adding too many lines to the image and the bird impression gets lost in the noise, I think.
I also like when the X is in perspective. The central pivot point of the letter could be a bit lower for balance, but that does not make much difference.

The background does not need to be a gradient. It could be a plain light green color that matches the dark border. That might be lighter on the resources and I don't think the gradient contributes much visual difference vs one-color background. Especially with the dark circle which now hides the ends of the gradient.

These are just my $0.02, though.
