We've found a variety of issues with different version of qemu and our best advice is to use the very latest bleeding edge of qemu if possible. That means 7.2.
This page will serve as a way to keep track of known issues with qemu.
qemu 7.2
Anything less than qemu 7.2 does not have AVX or AVX2 support. That means on arm macs some programs will not work unless you upgade to 7.2.
All qemu versions
- The host port forwarding feature is not highly reliable, you may experience packet drops if there is sustained incoming network traffic to be forwarded to the guest (e.g. when running web server performance tests with a high number of concurrent requests)
qemu 3.x
- TCG has an issue w/casting floats (particularly with javascript) https://github.com/nanovms/ops/issues/403
qemu 2.11.1 (stock ubuntu bionic and below)

- you might get an error "pcie-root-port' is not a valid device model name" - please upgrade 2.9 or later
