# Copyright (C) 2007-2015 Segher Boessenkool <segher@kernel.crashing.org> These scripts build GNU binutils, GCC, and/or a Linux kernel for various target architectures. They will not download the source code for you. Do that yourself, and edit the file "config" to point to wherever you put it. These scripts keep those source trees clean. Create a file "config" with your local settings, "config.example" can be used as a template for it. GCC uses some external libraries, you can use GCC_EXTRA_CONF in "config" to point to a usable version, if your OS does not come with one. You can also switch to the GCC source dir and run contrib/download_prerequisites from there. Type "make" to build the tools buildall uses. Now you can use: ./build --binutils <target> # build binutils ./build --gcc <target> # build GCC ./build --toolchain <target> # build binutils and GCC ./build --kernel <target> [defconfig] # build Linux ./build <target> [defconfig] # build everything Supported targets are "*-elf", "*-eabi", where "*" is the GNU name for the target architecture; or you can use the Linux name of the target, and the scripts pick a toolchain target that works, e.g. for "mn10300" it picks "am33_2.0-linux". Finally, for adventurous people, you can use ./buildall (or "./buildall --toolchain" etc., all options are passed through to ./build unmodified) to build all targets supported by Linux at once; for architectures that have a 32-bit and a 64-bit variant, it builds one of each. Usually it uses plain "defconfig" for the kernel, for biarch targets it picks a representative something_defconfig for the non-default size arch. Build directories are created for each target, named after that target; inside there are directories where the components are built, and some log files (full output for each build phase of each component). All questions/flames/patches welcome, or just tell me how it went and what you used it for!
