I am hoping that this will resolve the problem with building native extensions in the Travis CI server.

The Travis CI build appear to be failing because of missing development dependencies when it tries to build the bigdecimal gem. I hope that apt-get'ing the ruby dev packages will fix this.
I also added the build status badge into the README.
