Update User Guide to reflect change in caret location when selecting text, as per #4636 #7394
Comments
Note that there's also a command to move the caret to the review cursor. I
wonder whether it'd be more appropriate to document this behaviour in the
description of the NVDA+f10 command, rather than generally in the section
you suggest. Aside from the fact that this is a specific user action, the
user also hasn't learnt about this command yet; it gets listed later.

Either way. My thought behind putting it in the description above the commands was simply because that is where it says the system caret does not follow the review cursor, so I put the exception to that there as well, but in the explanation of the NVDA+f10 command also works. |
I believe @josephsl was working on some documentation issues in the recent past. Could you fix this one too? |
I see that the paragraph discussed in the issue description has been changed for NVDA 2017.4. Is this issue resolved, or does further changes need to be made. |

When the review cursor behaviour was changed to require pressing NVDA+f10 twice to copy (issue #4636), the caret is now moved when the text is selected. In the explanation for the Review Cursor (second paragraph): https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#ReviewingText it is noted that when moving the review cursor, the system caret does not follow, so it is worth clarifying the second paragraph, possibly by adding the text:
"If selecting text that the system caret can reach, the caret moves to the selection once NVDA+f10 is pressed." after the existing paragraph so that it reads: "When moving the review cursor, the System caret does not follow along, so you can review text without losing your editing position. However, by default, when the System caret moves, the review cursor follows along. This can be toggled on and off. If selecting text that the system caret can reach, the caret moves to the selection once NVDA+f10 is pressed".
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
