@Brian1Gaff you should coppy and paste link. |
I can confirm it, when arrowing to "avatar" and then down arrow slowly, NVDA's virtual cursor gets stuck. When arrowing very fast you can pass that section and the virtual cursor moves properly again. Testing with NVDA 2018.4 RC1 |

@michaelDCurran: I'm pretty sure that this is caused by the virtual buffer changes. It would help if you could have a look. |
I've assigned this a p2, as it is pretty important to investigate the cause of this before NVDA 2018.4 comes out IMO. |
Agreed that the behaviour has changed in 2018.4, but neither 2018.3 or
2018.4 are really correct, and this in deed seems to be a fairly serious
web authoring issue. As you arrow down past the "Join the discussion"
edit field, it keeps getting focus.
I certainly wouldn't block 2018.4 on this isolated case as you could
just press comma (,) twice to jump to the bottom of that list to get out
of it.
However, it would be still nice to know why there is a difference --
clearly some content is disappearing and then reappearing too late. I'm
more inclined to think this is just a change in render timing between
2018.3 and 2018.4 which shows up the existing bug.

@michaelDCurran regarding disappearing and reappearing of elements, there is the issue #8992 which as well shows this behavior on Google translate. In the log file it seems there is an incorrect parameter in NVDAObjects.IAccessible.IAccessible._get_IAccessibleRole when navigating with arrow keys around the region where the element is disappearing. Could it be also bad implementation by website developer? Or is there a possibility to get the right parameters assigned to the coresponding elements? I guess this could be a case by case approach which can be endless work if we consider all websites where such behavior exists. |
I had this issue with disappearing elements on some websites also before NVDA 2018.3, but especially in MS Edge. |
I'm also experiencing this in Slack sometimes. I.e. when I am on a message in browse mode and press down arrow, NVDA brings me to the add reaction button for a short amount of time, then forces me back on the message. This might also be a case of bad web authoring though? |
Closing as fixed by #11190. |
