Maybe also consider FUNDING.yml for those? fdroidserver expects those in <repo_root>/build/<packageName>/ (i.e. in the root of the cloned upstream repo), which also makes it easier to have them maintained by upstream. A custom location (via config) outside the repo itself would be fine as well, of course.

There is no such thing as a "cloned upstream repo" as far as apkrepotool is concerned. I'm not sure what the best location would be. And parsing that file means figuring out what URLs to create. But yes, supporting that would be good. Eventually :)
