Feature Request: Import from Google Docs #237
Comments
+1 for this, this feature is definitely missing. |
For now these are the best options I could find. To export individual documents to Markdown: Docs to Markdown To export all your Docs files you'll need to go to Google Takeout
|
I spent like a week trying to find something that would get my several hundred documents, with existing file structure, converted. Neither Pandoc nor Word to Markdown JS appear to have options to do that, or at least not well enough tutorialized that I can find them, and the dedicated tool I found (https://github.com/YianniR/docx2md) didn't work for me. |
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "didn't work for me"? What steps did you take and what was the result? Did you use Takeout to export the files? Were those files exported with the file structure you expected? |
It's been some months and I've forgotten the specifics, but it was at least somewhat documented in the Issues tab, all three of the Issues having been opened by me, and two of them having been resolved.
I'm not sure - I know it turned out that the vast majority of the storage on my Drive is actually from my game backups, not my writing, and it went a lot smoother when I excluded them - but yes to the second. I've got the whole directory of docx files and their labeled folders, unzipped and everything, I just need the docx files translated to Markdown. |
I also support this feature. I have friends that prefer collaborating with google docs. But I use the text that we create together on obsidian as markdown, from where I publish websites. An integration like this would be optimal. |
I've never used Google Keep - was today years old when I learned that it existed, even - but I use Docs a lot, and I'd like to import my writing into Obsidian. It doesn't appear to be supported, though?
