| M: 2014.02.18...20 February Nuremberg Safety Assessment Workshop

Dear all, from the 18th to the 20th of February 2014 there is a workshop planned at AEbt in Nürnberg being exclusively dedicated to the assessment related activities of safety. Please save this date. The aim of the workshop is defined to be: 1/ Include the authorities into our process and get early feedback 2/ To anticipate the feedback of the authorities directly into the project As a preparation to the workshop the deliverable from the internal assessment as well as the first report on safety can be utilized. (will be available by end of this year)

An online preparation meeting on the workshop is planned for the 5th of November 2013 starting at 12h30 via gotomeeting:                 https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/334291797 The aim of the preparation meeting is to: 1/ Set up the invitation list of the workshop 2/ Agree on a common strategy for the workshop

If you cannot attend to this meeting, please provide a list of possible participants and further requirements you would like to have respected. Requirements could be a list of acceptance criteria/ documents/ officials to involve.

First feedback from a possible assessors, e.g. Certifer with JL Boulanger, indicate that additional funding is required for JL Boulanger if an assessment is planned. The same should apply to TÜV if we demand more than just a workshop attendance.

• I think the funding issue is an essential one which will decide over the acceptance of the authorities.
• How much effort/ funding could be realistic?
• Are there comparable figures/ heuristics coming out of the project?
• Will the openETCS foundation care for this funding?   Best regards,
