This community is for astronomers, developers, and research teams using CANFAR. Ask a question, describe a difficult workflow, suggest an improvement, or share something that helped your work. You do not need to contribute code or know which component caused a problem.
Where to start
Start in Feedback if you are unsure. We will help put the conversation in the right place. Try to keep one concern in each topic, and add your experience to an existing discussion when it already covers your need.
What happens after you post
The team reviews new feedback each week. We may answer your question, ask for a detail, connect your report to existing work, or create an issue to track a change. There is no guaranteed response deadline.
The pinned roadmap shows proposals and their status. Upvote an idea and add your use case to help us understand its impact. Votes inform decisions; they do not guarantee delivery.
We summarize progress in the existing platform release notes every three months with each new release. We also update individual reports when decisions change or fixes become available. A merged fix may still be waiting for a published client release.
Other ways to reach us
Use CANFAR Discord for chat or email. Email is available if you prefer not to create a GitHub account, and for account-specific help, service incidents, or private data concerns. Maintainers ask before sharing a public summary of private feedback.
Keep credentials and private research data out of public posts. Follow the security policy for vulnerabilities and the Code of Conduct for participation and private conduct reporting. Criticism and disagreement are welcome; discuss the behavior or proposal without attacking the person.
If you would like to introduce yourself, reply with the kind of research you do and one task you use CANFAR for. You can also help by answering a question, trying a reproduction, improving documentation, or testing a fix.
