The TypicalDesignArea is an object relating to a geotechnical structure or to a set of related geotechnical structures. This object represents a zone of space in which the geotechnical model is homogeneous and the dimensioning of the geotechnical structure, or geotechnical structures in question, is unique, and carried out through the same calculation model(s).

This object therefore records in its properties the information relating to:
• The geographical area of application of the geotechnical model used and the calculation models used. It can be an area delimited by a surface, a volume, or even a linear reference (PM, PK) in the case of a linear project (road infrastructure, tunnel, etc.);
• The geotechnical model that can be used in this area;
• Other conditions valid in the area impacting the calculations or the dimensioning: hydrogeological conditions, risks, etc…;
• The calculation model(s) used for the dimensioning of works in the area;
• The actual dimensioning of the structure(s) in question (picture below)
