This removes the two external modules.
ThingDoc now causes build errors on Fedora which would be trivial to fix, but trying to maintain everything seems not a good strategy. The external repos are still available and can be used via separate download.
The change also updates the test stuff to Python3 with but does not yet fix all test errors.
