Pull Shark and YOLO achievements not showing on my profile

Hi everyone,

My Pull Shark and YOLO achievements haven't appeared on my profile, even though I meet the requirements.

• I have 4 merged pull requests in a public repository that I don't own. They all show up in the search "is:pr is:merged author:bariscanceken".
• I also merged a pull request without any review, which should unlock YOLO.
• GitHub showed me a banner saying "You unlocked new Achievements with private contributions".
• "Show Achievements on my profile" and "Include private contributions on my profile" are both enabled.

The first PR was merged on October 26, but no new achievements appear on my achievements page yet.

Has anyone had the same issue, or is there a way to get the achievements recalculated?

This sounds like a delay or sync problem rather than something you did wrong, since you describe the usual requirements as met. A few things to check:

1. PR criteria for Pull Shark. Each PR must be authored by your account, merged (purple icon), and merged into the default branch of a repository you don't own. Forks of your own repos don't count.

2. The "private contributions" banner. That banner means at least one achievement was unlocked by activity GitHub considers private. If your four PRs are in a public repo, the banner may be about a different achievement. Open your profile and check whether any other badge (for example Quickdraw or Pair Extraordinaire) has appeared.

3. Commit email. In Settings → Emails, make sure the email used on your commits is verified and linked to your account. Commits tied to unverified emails may not be recognised.

4. YOLO. I'm not certain how GitHub checks this one, because it isn't documented clearly. Several guides suggest requesting a review from someone and merging before they review, rather than merging with no reviewer at all. If your PR had no reviewer assigned, that may be why it wasn't picked up.

5. Timing. Your first merge was on Oct 26, so only about five days have passed. Some users report these badges taking weeks, and there are community reports of Pull Shark going missing even after more time and the settings being correct.

If nothing appears after another week or two, contact GitHub Support and include links to the merged PRs. A recalculation can only be done on GitHub's side, so staff would need to look at it.

Nothing on your side needs changing, and there is no recalculation you can trigger. GitHub's own incident thread, https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/203416, says in its September 23 update that achievements are being earned and shown "several days" late with no timeline for a fix, and this week five other Pull Shark threads report the same (211341, 211347, 211525, 211621, 211642).

Your record qualifies. Search shows five merged PRs authored by you: Emirbozdemir/syntax-rulet#1 (February 2025) plus the four in VijayVignesh1/personal_assistant merged 26 to 28 October, so the two-PR threshold was crossed on 26 October, and your achievements tab still listed only Quickdraw when I checked at 01:03 UTC on 31 October. The "unlocked new Achievements with private contributions" banner is the one piece that got through; the incident thread covers exactly that gap, awards that exist but do not appear on the profile. YOLO comes from the same pipeline, so the same applies.

The useful move is a comment in 203416 with your username and the PR links, so your case is counted against the incident. A Support ticket under Account is the only other route; this forum cannot push the award.
