I'm developing a Home Assistant integration for Grimmory and would like to identify individual Grimmory instances reliably.
Home Assistant uses stable unique IDs to identify "config entries". Using a hostname, IP address, or URL for this purpose is not ideal, as these can change even when the underlying Grimmory installation remains the same. For other devices serial number or MAC address is, for example, used as unique id.
Would it be possible to expose a stable, unique instance ID through the Grimmory API?
For example, an endpoint such as
GET /api/v1/app/instancecould return an ID generated when Grimmory is first set up.The main requirements would be that the ID:
This would allow the Home Assistant integration to recognise the same Grimmory installation even when its connection details change or when it is removed and added back.
Would this be a suitable addition to the Grimmory API?
