Mounting theia as a volume would allow to simply inject it into any Docker image (as opposed to have to create an extra image per template version).

It would require:

an image that creates a static node version, and compiles theia and deps with this version
extract the content into a volume mountable location
modify instance deployment to add this extra volume and proper argument so that thei is bootstrapped
