Artifacts occur sometimes around the "R"

Reproduced this error in latest version of IE10 and Chrome on my Win 7 6.1 machine. Could not reproduce in latest Firefox.

Also occurs in the latest version, but only on Safari 7.0.4 (Version 1.2.0-rc.1)

Only happens when sliding the resistance bar up to 66 ohms. If slid to a lower value the artifacts disappear

Reproduced on Win 8 IE but not FF or chrome. Also will happen to all characters if tested with parameter ?stringTest=R

A similar issue was seen in Gravity and Orbits, see phetsims/gravity-and-orbits#57. The recommended solution in that case was to add an invisible rectangle to the node with bounds that are a bit larger than the node that is leaving the artifacts in order to trick the browser into re-rendering a larger area. I'm going to give that a shot.
