Remove connectivity checks in favour of exit traps

As reported in pimoroni/clean-shutdown#23 and several other issues/forum posts the check against Google for connectivity can fail in cases where it's blocked either deliberately by the end-user, or by a firewall/content filter. This should be removed and replaced with checks against the exit code of services which require a connection.
