TEXT type column causes error result in WHERE clause

/* init */ drop table if exists t;
/* init */ create table t(a TEXT);
/* int */ insert into t values ('abc');

mysql> update t set a = 'def' where a;

2. What did you expect to see? (Required)

results in MySQL 8.0.26:

mysql> update t set a = 'def' where a;
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
Rows matched: 0  Changed: 0  Warnings: 0

3. What did you see instead (Required)

mysql> update t set a = 'def' where a;
ERROR 1292 (22007): Truncated incorrect INTEGER value: 'abc'

4. What is your TiDB version? (Required)

mysql> select version();
