Error: did not resolve to an alias and no unqualified-search registries

Firstly, please why do I see this at the end of the output:

Error: missing command 'podman image COMMAND'

When I run:

'docker image' ( or 'padman image' )

Secondly,

I am learning docker for the first time ( it means to be resolving to podman) and I tried this code from TryHackMe:

$ podman run -it helloworld /bin/bash

and this is the error I'm getting:

Error: short-name "helloworld" did not resolve to an alias and no unqualified-search registries are defined in "/etc/containers/registries.conf"

Please how can I fix this, BTW this is my first time with playing with containerization.

podman image is not a final command, you have to specify the subcommand to execute:

You likely are looking for podman images

Second using image short names does not specify where to to get them from. As such you need configuration to tell podman where to look. Usually your distro package is adding unqualified-search registries.
You can just add the file yourself, i.e. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Podman#Registries

Or you just use full names quay.io/podman/hello or docker.io/library/hello-world for the docker image as examples.

how about a locally created/modified image?
E.g. I run an image using podman run -it foobar and modify (say, install some software there).
Then I do
podman image save -o foobar1 whateverID where whatever ID is the one I see in the output of
podman images.

Now, if I want to run the modified image:

 $ podman run -it foobar1 
Error: short-name "foobar1" did not resolve to an alias and no unqualified-search registries are defined in "/etc/containers/registries.conf"

and if I give full path to foobar1 I get

Error: parsing reference "/home/whatever/foobar1": invalid reference format

Does this mean that I actually cannot work with images locally, they need to be going somewhere to the cloud to be useful?
