when not verified on the old site you will have to go trough the frustrating email verification on the old site, just to get redirected to osu.ppy.sh/home

dont see why this redirect should require verification.. its just annoying

Why are you still accessing the old site? I would rather resolve the source of the issue (which is that you shouldn't be needing to visit the old site) rather than spend hours/days on fixing something which is going to be used by 5 people.

I am not using the oldsite, the issue is that visiting https://osu.ppy.sh while not being verified on the old site will ask for email confirmation, rather than leading to https://osu.ppy.sh/home like it does when being verified

I'm confused. Visiting osu.ppy.sh will never visit the old site under any circumstance.

Can you possibly take a video or export a network log of what you're seeing?

I will, once the next time encounter this (which probably is within a couple days). I am sadly not able to force this, so I will have to wait for this to naturally occur again

I have the same issue on multiple devices.. This behavior started happening after trying to verify on the old website to read an old website PM I received. When I tried to verify, it didn't work, and after 1 refresh it made the entire website 429 for over an hour. It's been having this issue when going to the main website url since then.

Not sure what part of the network log you want or how to post it here

dunno about RockRoller's scenario, but I used to end on the old site a couple of times after clicking the old-style profile links from BanchoBot, https://osu.ppy.sh/u/{id}

Can confirm the same happened to me yesterday. Possibly worth mentioning that everyone in this thread is a member of gmt or nat usergroup, not sure if it could be related by any way though.

Was hoping we'd just replace the remaining PM system sooner, but I'll take a look into this one as it hasn't been done yet.

at least i am not using the old pm system for way over a year at this point, not sure how related the pm system is to this issue

It's more that I plan to turn off the old site completely when that's done 😅.

Thanks for your patience. This should be fixed.
