Interested in contributing, but it wouldn't build on my system.

I'm interested in looking into making the build more portable and have some code that works. I can rewrite it using gulp if needed.

This looks good, happy to review a PR for this! Perhaps we could use something like Commander for the node.js script you have in that commit?
