I would like it very much if I could rename multiple files within a torrent at once, instead of individually. This would either be a built-in feature or perhaps a plugin via a popular renaming app. The ability to rename single files and top level folders is so vital to many of us. But one must rename them one at a time.
Let’s say I’ve got a torrent containing multiple video files, where the release group puts their name before the title in the filename <RELEASEGROUP><TITLE>. This has become very common with manga and anime torrents. It’s a problem because most arrr apps don’t process these correctly, and the same goes for readers and players like Plex.
Let’s say there are 48 files like this, 96 if you include subtitle files! That’s a LOT of renaming. And if I use a renamer app for bulk renaming, the qbittorrent displays an error and there is no longer seeding, because qbittorrent doesn’t recognize the file names changed by a 3rd party app.
It would be great if one could select many or all separate files within a torrent, and right click, and still see the “Rename” menu option, and see the rename filed displaying something like this: [EXCELSIOR]Cupcake.Saga(2023).s**e**.mkv
When Rename is selected for multiple files, the app would display the universally common elements of the file name, and something like asterisks or other symbol to indicate the characters that are different. The user could merely delete [EXCELSIOR] from from the rename field for nice clean titles that popular apps can read.
