Please provide the following information

qBittorrent version and Operating System

qBitorrent 4.2.5, Windows 10

What is the problem

Application Hang when accessing Options window

What is the expected behavior

No hanging

Steps to reproduce

Start qBittorrent
Click Options icon (or access Options any other way)
Wait 4-5 seconds, or click on something
Application hangs, must be force-closed

Extra info(if any)

I tried to set up Crash Dump capturing but couldn't get it to work. I could provide Event Logs/Reliability History info but I'm not sure what's needed. The main error I see in these logs is AppHangB1.

More information; This is a fresh Windows install and I have tried:

  • older qBittorrent versions
  • 32-bit version
  • Windows DISM and scannow

All seem to have the same problem, and I'm betting it's a Windows issue, but I'm going nuts trying to identify it. I suspect I don't have the knowledge to dig into the logs to find out which DLL or registry key is broken.

What did you use when you tried Crash Dump capturing? Debug Diagnostic Tool v2 Update 3?

I tried setting up a LocalDumps registry key, but nothing was captured. Is there a preference for one of the above tools? I'll try again if there's a preferred method.

@indigoisblue there's nothing in that log really of any use/relevance. (It was only running for approx. 2mins & 14secs) You are experiencing hanging/freezing for a period of time & not an actual crash. (silent/hard or even CTD)

For now, I don't think the debugger being attached will be of use. (Please deactivate the rules & detach it from)

Can you give some more detail on your setup....ie logs (omitting any private/torrent info etc.)

Do you have the execution log tab active?
How many torrents do you have?

The app is only running for a short time because it is not at all configured, and as soon as I try to run the Options to do so, it hangs. This is a fresh install of both Win10 and qB, so I haven't even loaded any torrents when this happens. I start the app, then immediately go to Options, but again, that's when the whole thing hangs. It just becomes Unresponsive, the screen whites out, the cursor spins forever, I have to force close it, etc.
However, this sort of confirms my hunch that the issue is with Windows and not qBittorrent specifically. Since this is a fresh install, it stumps me even further, but I think I'm going to have to bang on this from the Windows side of things. If you have any thoughts on how I could debug the issue using this information, tho, I'd welcome it. :)
Thanks!

@indigoisblue Windows 10 Build?

Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.836)

As of this afternoon I have two updates pending:
2020-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4560960)
Feature update to Windows 10, 2004

I have a hunch that the latter may fix some things, as I've heard 1909 is buggy as all get-out.

The update seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks for your help.
