I advise yout to rename the issue to "The QBT notification area icon with 4.0.0 is very aliased" or such, because the current one doesn't convey any information...

This is issue was present with the older icon too. It is a Qt bug. I have already reported it there and they have a fix for Qt 5.9.4. (qt bug: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-63447)

The bug is that Qt decides to use a 32x32 icon and Windows downscales it badly to 16x16. (And yes we include a 16x16 icon too).

This wasn't so obvious with the previous icon because of the way the icon looks already.
Older version of qBittorrent based on Qt 5.6 don't show the problem.

In any case, this will be fixed once Qt makes a new release available.

Yes. I confirm that it seems to work.
I have rebuild my toolchain for 64 bit based on 5.9.3, so our next release will use it.
