Select by location #57349

@Octansf, thanks for reporting. Have you already read the documentation about the tool at https://docs.qgis.org/3.34/en/docs/user_manual/processing_algs/qgis/vectorselection.html#qgisselectbylocation? May you provide the layers and the exact parameters set for the tool? |
The QGIS project highly values your report and would love to see it addressed. However, this issue has been left in feedback mode for the last 14 days and is being automatically marked as "stale". |
Hello, good morning. I apologise for the delay in replying but I had to resolve this issue in order to deliver the processed information. Please find attached the 2 sample layers I am working with. In context, in Arcgis Pro when I use the selection by location tool it works perfectly, in Qgis it does not select anything, for that I had to use the selection within distance tool. |

@Octansf, I cannot replicate the reported issue on my Windows 10 system using QGIS 3.34.7: the algorithm selects a different number of features depending on the parameters used. For info about spatial relationship issues between points and lines please see, for example: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/373198/select-by-location-fails-for-points-touching-intersecting-on-lines, https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52274984/qgis-find-points-that-are-on-or-near-a-line, https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/397721/point-on-a-line-in-arcgis-pro. |
@agiudiceandrea, if you use both layers in ArcGIS PRO and ArcMAP when use the tool select by Location, the result of select have more points, 7210 features are selected. For obtain the same result in QGIS I need to use the tool select within distance and distance I used is 0,0000001 This is it the result in ArcMap This is the result in ArcGIS PRO When the tool is used in Qgis it should be the same result. But no like you said only 329 Features are selected. It happens with any layer. I think that is not normal. With previous versions of QGIS the behavior was as expected and for that reason they were trying to migrate to QGIS. I remain attentive to any observation. Thanks a lot for all your kind attention |
@Octansf, in your issue report you reported that "when try to use select by locaion the result of select always is empty" and "Select layer by comparing features from and run process Always is empty select" and "in Qgis it does not select anything". Regarding the spatial relationship between points and lines please see, for example: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/373198/select-by-location-fails-for-points-touching-intersecting-on-lines, https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52274984/qgis-find-points-that-are-on-or-near-a-line, https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/397721/point-on-a-line-in-arcgis-pro. Please create a new issue report if you think the behaviour described in your latest comment is a bug, so it can be properly addressed. |
