HANDS ON WITH QUARKUS: DEVELOPING JAKARTA EE APPLICATIONS WITH QUARKUS
Speaker(s): VALENTIN VASILEV
Day/Time: 15:20 - 17:15 ON TUESDAY
Abstract: Quarkus as a framework is gaining more and more traction over the years and a lot of developers are starting to adopt it nowadays. It sounds cool, but usually to get started, you will have to go through a lot of Internet resources and read through different documentations, articles and forums. Nobody has time for that. Also the stigma around that Java EE is old and distasteful stuff legacy applications use, would make you turn your head around. This however isn't true. The former Java EE, now called Jakarta EE keeps being updated and improved with the modern concepts, familiar to all web app frameworks out there. Along with the MicroProfile specifications, using Jakarta EE has never been easier. Quarkus is a web application framework, that implements the Jakarta EE specifications and MicroProfile, via SmallRye project. It allows for quick and easy set up, development and creation of scalable applications, that have a quick start-up and very minimal fingerprint, allowing to cut down on development time and cloud computing costs. Alongside the MicroProfile specifications, you get a plethora of tools for making a more resilient and stable applications. The goal of this hands on is to break the stigma about the outdated enterprise edition of Java. It is going to introduce rookies and veterans alike to the modern Jakarta EE, using the supersonic subatomic capabilities of Quarkus. Regardless of your previous experience, this hands on course will take you through well selected and structured chapters. It goes through the most used capabilities of Jakarta EE, Quarkus and the MicroProfile specs. It will teach you how you can build modern microservice applications for minimal, cost-efficient and lightning-fast projects. At the end you will be able to understand most of the Java/Jakarta EE and MicroProfile concepts and have the perfect platform to get your next project started with. Wednesday
BUILD AI-POWERED APPLICATIONS WITH QUARKUS
Speaker(s): KEVIN DUBOIS
Day/Time: 10:00 - 11:55 ON WEDNESDAY
Abstract: In the landscape of modern software development, the fusion of artificial intelligence (AI) and microservices architecture stands as a potent paradigm for creating agile, scalable, and intelligent applications. Quarkus has emerged as a leading platform for building cloud-native microservices with unparalleled speed and efficiency. Integrating AI capabilities into Quarkus-based applications unlocks a new realm of possibilities, from intelligent data processing to real-time decision-making. This workshop invites developers, architects, and AI enthusiasts to delve into the convergence of Quarkus and AI technologies. This hands-on session will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to harness the full potential of Quarkus AI for their projects. Key Workshop Topics: * Introduction to Quarkus: Explore the core principles and features of Quarkus framework, including its lightweight nature, fast boot time, and superior developer experience. * AI Integration with Quarkus: Learn how to seamlessly integrate AI capabilities into Quarkus applications using popular Large Language Models (LLM) such as OpenAI and Ollama * Create endpoints that can retain state between different requests * Enrich the LLM responses with your own provided documents. By the end of the workshop, participants should be ready to build their own AI-powered Quarkus applications and understand the difference between the different LLM offerings that integrate with Quarkus. Join us to accelerate your journey towards next-gen application development.
