QUnit has had a jQuery-style logo as icon for a long time now, that's OK. But I couldn't find any with the correct text and perhaps tag line. The first time I saw the name composed next to it was on the new website, but that looks out of place:

jQuery logo jQuery Mobile logo

jQuery UI logo

QUnit logo

Would be nice if someone could create a Vector graphic with the QUnit name next to it in the right font. And some kind of tagline perhaps, not sure if there is one (or just leave it off..).

Hmm. The jQuery logotype was hand-drawn, but it's loosely based on a free typeface called Quagmire. The lines were all redrawn to be more horizontal and consistent. Wouldn't take too long for someone to do the same for the QUnit letters... http://fontzone.net/font-details/Quagmire-BoldItalic/

Disregard the above file, I'm working on a different version at the moment with a few variations.

As far as a tagline, is there anything you had in mind? Possibly "Javascript Test Suite"?

I'm not sure what tag line to use, but not "JavaScript Test Suite". Because it's not a "test suite". People create test suites with QUnit. QUnit itself is a "unit test framework".

Here's the file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70675040/Qunit.ai

There's a few variations of the logo...having the Q and U at the same size looks a bit off to me so I played around with various other sizes. I also tried stylizing the Q to seperate it from Unit, because when they are at the same size it tends to read as "QU". The bottom one includes a tagline.

As much as I appreciate the illustrator file, can you include a quick screen grab of it rasterized also for those of us without the adobe suite on our computers? :)

Random Idea: what happens if you just steal the "Qu" part/sizing of jQuery in it's logo and then in the text next to it make it QUnit -- it might feel better? -- j[QUnit]ery?

Disclaimer: IANAD - That last one looks most promising, try the "sizing" from the j[Qu]ery logo and maybe play with the bar on the t and the dot on the i and line em up with the top bar on the n? I'll let someone else throw in feedback tho :)

How about just "unit testing" for the tag line?

Here's a few more (As a PNG):

png

1.) Made all letters have the same weight for capitals and lowercase.

2.) Different tagline and extended "t"

3.) All lowercase "unit" with size relation similar to the jQuery logo

4.) "Qu" in logo in a slightly different size (I think this relationship looks better)

As far as have the dot of the "i" and the top of "t" lining up with the top of the "n", the t and i are ascenders and would look very strange if it was the same height as the n.

I originally suggested in IRC "JavaScript unit testing" as the tag line. The "JavaScript" part may seem redundant, but suggests the independence from jQuery. Its a jQuery project, but doesn't depend on the code.

I lke 1.) - could you try the other tag line for that?

Here is the full size PNG, with transparent BG: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70675040/Qunit_(F).png

Here is a smaller one at 203px X 60px:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70675040/Qunit_(F)_Small.png

I can upload the .ai file if you need it.

@zrmccarthy could you updated the 203x60 one? The anti-aliasing on the "QUnit" part doesn't look as good as it should: http://qunitjs.com/

Here's an updated one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70675040/Qunit_Fixed.png

The anti-aliasing is fixed, and I bumped up the color and size of the tagline because it is difficult to read as is on the site.

Thanks, updated that on the site: http://qunitjs.com/
Looks a lot better. Could you update the ai file once more?

Would also be great to get the favicon.

No problem, working on the favicon, I'll post it in the other thread when it's finished.

So, is there any .svg file or .ai for the logo of QUnit? And I want to make a badge for it in the repository badges.

@aleen42 you can download .eps versions of the logo with the jQuery Foundation logo suite here: https://brand.jquery.org/logos/#the-mark
