Is there any way to highlight tabs and/or render them as X spaces?

https://prismjs.com/plugins/show-invisibles/ exists to show them, but I don't know if we can incorporate plugins, but also I don't want to just highlight them, I want to change the number of spaces used to render them (either 4 or 8).
