Cue-sized notes default stem directions are always up regardless of the layer in which they are placed. The following example shows the default stem directions being upwards for cue-sized notes in the second layer:
To currently fix this problem, one of the notes in the cue-sized beam must be forced downwards (it does not matter which one). This is shown in the second measure of the example.
The third measure demonstrates that cue-sized notes that are not involved in beam groups posses the correct default stem directions. In this case they are in the second layer and the stems point downwards.
