I'm running Python 2.7.12 from Anaconda on a Mac Pro running mac OS X Sierra ver 10.12.6. Is there a procedure to build mesaplot under the Anaconda Distribution?

There is no special way set to build things for anaconda. Looking on the internet seems to suggest you should just be able to do:

/path/to/ananconda/python setup.py install
