I'm getting a segfault when running chunk.apply in parallel #14

I think there is a problem with my parallel implementation of chunk.apply. I'll follow up with a good example and hopefully a diagnosis and pull request.

This is only happening on the Mac and I suspect it's an out of memory error. I'm still working on a diagnosis.
