LIRI Bot

LIRI (Language Interpretation and Recognition Interface) is a command line node app that takes in parameters and gives you back data.

The app will show the formatted results in the command line and log them to log.txt file.

How to use

node liri.js (for a text-based menu)

OR

node liri.js '<command>' '<parameter>'

You will also need to create a file named .env and add the following to it, replacing the values with your own API keys:

# Spotify API keys
SPOTIFY_ID=your-spotify-id
SPOTIFY_SECRET=your-spotify-secret

# Twitter API keys
TWITTER_CONSUMER_KEY=your-twitter-consumer-key
TWITTER_CONSUMER_SECRET=your-twitter-consumer-secret
TWITTER_ACCESS_TOKEN_KEY=your-access-token-key
TWITTER_ACCESS_TOKEN_SECRET=your-twitter-access-token-secret

Available Commands

node liri.js my-tweets - This will show your last 20 tweets and when they were created.

node liri.js spotify-this-song '<song name here>' - This will show you the requested song information from Spotify.

node liri.js movie-this '<movie name here>' - This will show you the requested movie information from OMDB.

node liri.js do-what-it-says - This will read and execute the command and parameters from the random.txt file.

Example

Running the command node liri.js movie-this 'the lion king' will return the following result:

Title: The Lion King
Year: 1994
IMDB Rating: 8.5
RT Rating: 93%
Country: USA
Languages: English, Swahili, Xhosa, Zulu
Plot: A Lion cub crown prince is tricked by a treacherous uncle into thinking he caused his father's death and flees into exile in despair, only to learn in adulthood his identity and his responsibilities.
Actors: Rowan Atkinson, Matthew Broderick, Niketa Calame-Harris, Jim Cummings

What I Used

This app was built using Node.JS and the following NPM packages: dotenv, node-spotify-api, twitter, inquirer, request.
