A partir de una evaluación más profunda del manejo de sonido en Turpial se determinó que los bindings de Python para libao y ogg, (PyOgg se encuentran abandonados por sus desarrolladores, además de tener problemas serios de calidad de código.
Se determinó que GStreamer provee una solución más sólida para el porcentaje más grande de la base de usuarios (Linux/KDE) además de estar activamente mantenido y ser utilizado por cada vez más aplicaciones (por ejemplo Phonon y Amarok de KDE y casi la totalidad de las aplicaciones de sonido de GNOME).
