Record/Replay commands

A with cli (with lib) to record the outputs of a command and replay it with the same timedelays.

Usage

recmd

NAME:
   recmd - record or replay inputs and outputs of a command

USAGE:
   recmd [global options] command [command options] [arguments...]

VERSION:
   development

COMMANDS:
   record, rec                             Records the following command
   replay, rep                             Replay a recorded command
   convert-to-plain-text, conv-plain, cpt  Converts an record with 'in', 'out' and 'error' as base64 to on which uses plain text instead
   help, h                                 Shows a list of commands or help for one command

GLOBAL OPTIONS:
   --help, -h     show help
   --version, -v  print the version

recmd record

NAME:
   recmd record - Records the following command

USAGE:
   recmd record [command options] [arguments...]

OPTIONS:
   --input value, -i value, --in value, --if value          Use file as stdin
   --output value, -o value, --out value, --of value        Output file (default: "recmd-{{ .CmdBaseName }}-{{ .Time }}.json")
   --save-with-plain-text, --plain-text, --plain, --pt, -p  Saves to json with 'in','out' and 'err' as plain texts instead of base64 encodings (default: false)
   --time-format value                                      time format for the output template, accessible with {{ .Time }} (default: "20060102_150405")
   --interactive, --inter, --stdin                          Use standard input (default: false)
   --help, -h                                               show help

recmd replay

NAME:
   recmd replay - Replay a recorded command

USAGE:
   recmd replay [command options] [arguments...]

OPTIONS:
   --exit-code value, --code value, --ec value  Overwrites the exit-code from the replay (default: 0)
   --no-delays, --quick                         Ignore delays while replaying (default: false)
   --help, -h                                   show help

recmd convert-to-plain-text

NAME:
   recmd convert-to-plain-text - Converts an record with 'in', 'out' and 'error' as base64 to one which uses plain text instead, (default-output: <input-name>-string.<input-ext>)

USAGE:
   recmd convert-to-plain-text <input-file> [output-file]

OPTIONS:
   --help, -h  show help

Known bugs

• when recording the bash executeable, typing exit and pressing enter requires a second enter to exit

• Some records are slower than the original command

  • (could be because of dynamic allocation for maps of the timedpipes)
