Which branch are you on? Also, can you post the clang and pahole versions? Thanks. |
Hi @htejun , |
I'm not sure the particular problem is caused by it but the clang version seems too old. Didn't the build choke on 64bit enums? Can you please retry on sched_ext-v2 branch w/ the latest llvm built from the latest git? |
Thank you for your response. I will retry and will let you know.

HI @htejun , I tried with clang/llvm-15 and pahole v 1.24 with branch sched_ext-v2 , i am able to compile and run but apart form this other scx_* binaries still shows verifier error,
This time same error message but on bpf_task_storage_get() function.
|
@htejun , i further tried to add some logging in the verifier.c to look into the btf-id's discrepancies and recompiled the kernel and it's started to work now, "Strange" as i have made no major changes to get this result. One thing that i saw during kernel compilation was suspicious. Won't this create problems?? |
@constantmanish how did you compile the kernel? did you pass any extra arguments to If you have
This shows that the only BTF ID entry for |
@Decave after this new vmlinux file generated still have task_struct with multiple id's [138428] STRUCT 'task_struct' size=9856 vlen=253 Should i try clean install by using original source again ?? |
@Decave I tried to do clean make build again using the original source , I still have multiple btf-id's for task_struct in vmlinux file, I am using sched-ext-v2 branch |
Can you share your .config? |
Here is the config |
@constantmanish Hmm, I was unable to repro even with your .config and compiling with gcc. Can you repro this on bpf-next? If so, I suggest emailing bpf@vger.kernel.org with the issue so that the BPF community can take a look and discuss. On the sched_ext side, we're just using the latest upstream bpf-next, so if we're incorrectly generating multiple BTF IDs it's probably an issue on upstream bpf-next as well. |

This patch implements per virtqueue dma device for mlx5_vdpa. This is needed for virtio_vdpa to work for CVQ which is backed by vringh but not DMA. We simply advertise the vDPA device itself as the DMA device for CVQ then DMA API can simply use PA so the identical mapping for CVQ can still be used. Otherwise the identical (1:1) mapping won't work when platform IOMMU is enabled since the IOVA is allocated on demand which is not necessarily the PA. This fixes the following crash when mlx5 vDPA device is bound to virtio-vdpa with platform IOMMU enabled but not in passthrough mode: BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ff2fb3063deb1002 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 1393001067 P4D 1393002067 PUD 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI CPU: 55 PID: 8923 Comm: kworker/u112:3 Kdump: loaded Not tainted 6.1.0+ #7 Hardware name: Dell Inc. Eduard Zingerman says: ==================== This patch-set modifies BPF verifier to accept programs that read from uninitialized stack locations, but only if executed in privileged mode. This provides significant verification performance gains: 30% to 70% less processed states for big number of test programs. The reason for performance gains comes from treating STACK_MISC and STACK_INVALID as compatible, when cached state is compared to current state in verifier.c:stacksafe(). The change should not affect safety, because any value read from STACK_MISC location has full binary range (e.g. 0x00-0xff for byte-sized reads). Details and measurements are provided in the description for the patch #1. The change was suggested by Andrii Nakryiko, the initial patch was created by Alexei Starovoitov. The discussion could be found at [1]. Changes v1 -> v2 (v1 available at [2]): - Calls to helper functions now convert STACK_INVALID to STACK_MISC (suggested by Andrii); - The test case progs/test_global_func10.c is updated to expect new error message. Before recent commit [3] exact content of error messages was not verified for this test. - Replaced incorrect '//'-style comments in test case asm blocks by '/*...*/'-style comments in order to fix compilation issues; - Changed the tag from "Suggested-By" to "Co-developed-by" for Alexei on patch #1, please let me know if this is appropriate use of the tag. Eduard Zingerman says: ==================== Changes v1 -> v2, suggested by Alexei: - Resolved conflict with recent commit: 6fcd486 ("bpf: Refactor RCU enforcement in the verifier"); - Variable `ctx_access` removed in function `convert_ctx_accesses()`; - Macro `BPF_COPY_STORE` renamed to `BPF_EMIT_STORE` and fixed to correctly extract original store instruction class from code. Original message follows: The function verifier.c:convert_ctx_access() applies some rewrites to BPF instructions that read from or write to the BPF program context. For example, the write instruction for the `struct bpf_sockopt::retval` field: *(u32 *)(r1 + offsetof(struct bpf_sockopt, retval)) = r2 Is transformed to: *(u64 *)(r1 + offsetof(struct bpf_sockopt_kern, tmp_reg)) = r9 r9 = *(u64 *)(r1 + offsetof(struct bpf_sockopt_kern, current_task)) r9 = *(u64 *)(r9 + offsetof(struct task_struct, bpf_ctx)) *(u32 *)(r9 + offsetof(struct bpf_cg_run_ctx, retval)) = r2 r9 = *(u64 *)(r1 + offsetof(struct bpf_sockopt_kern, tmp_reg)) Currently, the verifier only supports such transformations for LDX (memory-to-register read) and STX (register-to-memory write) instructions. Error is reported for ST instructions (immediate-to-memory write). This is fine because clang does not currently emit ST instructions. However, new `-mcpu=v4` clang flag is planned, which would allow to emit ST instructions (discussed in [1]). This patch-set adjusts the verifier to support ST instructions in `verifier.c:convert_ctx_access()`. The patches #1 and #2 were previously shared as part of RFC [2]. The changes compared to that RFC are: - In patch #1, a bug in the handling of the `struct __sk_buff::queue_mapping` field was fixed. - Patch #3 is added, which is a set of disassembler-based test cases for context access rewrites. The test cases cover all fields for which the handling code is modified in patch #1. Parsing of USDT arguments is architecture-specific; on arm it is relatively easy since registers used are r[0-10], fp, ip, sp, lr, pc. Format is slightly different compared to aarch64; forms are - "size @ [ reg, #offset ]" for dereferences, for example "-8 @ [ sp, #76 ]" ; " -4 @ [ sp ]" - "size @ reg" for register values; for example "-4@r0" - "size @ #value" for raw values; for example "-8@#1" Add support for parsing USDT arguments for ARM architecture. To test the above changes QEMU's virt[1] board with cortex-a15 CPU was used. libbpf-bootstrap's usdt example[2] was modified to attach to a test program with DTRACE_PROBE1/2/3/4... probes to test different combinations. Andrii Nakryiko says: ==================== Add support for open-coded (aka inline) iterators in BPF world. This is a next evolution of gradually allowing more powerful and less restrictive looping and iteration capabilities to BPF programs. We set up a framework for implementing all kinds of iterators (e.g., cgroup, task, file, etc, iterators), but this patch set only implements numbers iterator, which is used to implement ergonomic bpf_for() for-like construct (see patches #4-#5). We also add bpf_for_each(), which is a generic foreach-like construct that will work with any kind of open-coded iterator implementation, as long as we stick with bpf_iter_<type>_{new,next,destroy}() naming pattern (which we now enforce on the kernel side). Patch #1 is preparatory refactoring for easier way to check for special kfunc calls. Patch #2 is adding iterator kfunc registration and validation logic, which is mostly independent from the rest of open-coded iterator logic, so is separated out for easier reviewing. The meat of verifier-side logic is in patch #3. Patch #4 implements numbers iterator. I kept them separate to have clean reference for how to integrate new iterator types (now even simpler to do than in v1 of this patch set). Patch #5 adds bpf_for(), bpf_for_each(), and bpf_repeat() macros to bpf_misc.h, and also adds yet another pyperf test variant, now with bpf_for() loop. Patch #6 is verification tests, based on numbers iterator (as the only available right now). Patch #7 actually tests runtime behavior of numbers iterator. Finally, with changes in v2, it's possible and trivial to implement custom iterators completely in kernel modules, which we showcase and test by adding a simple iterator returning same number a given number of times to bpf_testmod. Patch #8 is where all this happens and is tested. Most of the relevant details are in corresponding commit messages or code comments. v4->v5: - fixing missed inner for() in is_iter_reg_valid_uninit, and fixed return false (kernel test robot); - typo fixes and comment/commit description improvements throughout the patch set; v3->v4: - remove unused variable from is_iter_reg_valid_init (kernel test robot); v2->v3: - remove special kfunc leftovers for bpf_iter_num_{new,next,destroy}; - add iters/testmod_seq* to DENYLIST.s390x, it doesn't support kfuncs in modules yet (CI); v1->v2: - rebased on latest, dropping previously landed preparatory patches; - each iterator type now have its own `struct bpf_iter_<type>` which allows each iterator implementation to use exactly as much stack space as necessary, allowing to avoid runtime allocations (Alexei); - reworked how iterator kfuncs are defined, no verifier changes are required when adding new iterator type; - added bpf_testmod-based iterator implementation; - address the rest of feedback, comments, commit message adjustment, etc. Cc: Tejun Heo <tj@kernel.org> ==================== Signed-off-by: Alexei Starovoitov <ast@kernel.org>

Neigh xmit code likes to round up hard header length to speed up copying the header, so it overwrites two bytes in front of the Eth header. On LE systems, 0x42 is one byte at `data - 4`, while on BE it's `data - 1`, what explains why it happens only there. It didn't happen previously due to that %XDP_PASS meant the page will be discarded and replaced by a new one, but now it can be recycled as well, while bpf_test_run code doesn't reinitialize the content of recycled pages. This mark is limited to this particular test and its setup though, so there's no need to predict 1000 different possible cases. Just move it 4 bytes to the left, still keeping it 32 bit to match on more bytes. Commit 4fe8158 ("ixgbe: let the xdpdrv work with more than 64 cpus") adds support to allow XDP programs to run on systems with more than 64 CPUs by locking the XDP TX rings and indexing them using cpu % 64 (IXGBE_MAX_XDP_QS). However, immediately after this, the rings are reconfigured by ixgbe_setup_tc. ixgbe_setup_tc calls ixgbe_clear_interrupt_scheme which calls ixgbe_free_q_vectors which calls ixgbe_free_q_vector in a loop. ixgbe_free_q_vector decrements ixgbe_xdp_locking_key once per call if it is non-zero. Commenting out the decrement in ixgbe_free_q_vector stopped my system from panicing. I suspect to make the original patch work, I would need to load an XDP program and then replace it in order to get ixgbe_xdp_locking_key back above 0 since ixgbe_setup_tc is only called when transitioning between XDP and non-XDP ring configurations, while ixgbe_xdp_locking_key is incremented every time ixgbe_xdp_setup is called. Also, ixgbe_setup_tc can be called via ethtool --set-channels, so this becomes another path to decrement ixgbe_xdp_locking_key to 0 on systems with more than 64 CPUs. Since ixgbe_xdp_locking_key only protects the XDP_TX path and is tied to the number of CPUs present, there is no reason to disable it upon unloading an XDP program. To avoid confusion, I have moved enabling ixgbe_xdp_locking_key into ixgbe_sw_init, which is part of the probe path. The intel_idle_init_cstates_icpu() function includes a loop that iterates over every C-state. Inside the loop, the same C-state data is referenced 2 ways: 1. as cpuidle_state_table[cstate] 2. as drv->states[drv->state_count] (but it is a copy of #1, not the same object). Make the code be more consistent and easier to read by using only the 2nd way. So the code structure would be as follows: 1. Use cpuidle_state_table[cstate] 2. Copy cpuidle_state_table[cstate] to drv->states[drv->state_count] 3. Use only drv->states[drv->state_count] from this point. Note, this change introduces a checkpatch.pl warning (too long line), but it will be addressed in the next patch. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065400 commit d21d406 upstream. syzkaller reported infinite recursive calls of fib6_dump_done() during netlink socket destruction. [1] From the log, syzkaller sent an AF_UNSPEC RTM_GETROUTE message, and then the response was generated. The following recvmmsg() resumed the dump for IPv6, but the first call of inet6_dump_fib() failed at kzalloc() due to the fault injection. [0] 12:01:34 executing program 3: r0 = socket$nl_route(0x10, 0x3, 0x0) sendmsg$nl_route(r0, ... snip ...) recvmmsg(r0, ... snip ...) (fail_nth: 8) Here, fib6_dump_done() was set to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done, and the next call of inet6_dump_fib() set it to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3]. syzkaller stopped receiving the response halfway through, and finally netlink_sock_destruct() called nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done(). fib6_dump_done() calls fib6_dump_end() and nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() if it is still not NULL. fib6_dump_end() rewrites nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() by nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3], but it has the same function, not NULL, calling itself recursively and hitting the stack guard page. To avoid the issue, let's set the destructor after kzalloc(). BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065400 commit 04c35ab upstream. PAT handling won't do the right thing in COW mappings: the first PTE (or, in fact, all PTEs) can be replaced during write faults to point at anon folios. Reliably recovering the correct PFN and cachemode using follow_phys() from PTEs will not work in COW mappings. Using follow_phys(), we might just get the address+protection of the anon folio (which is very wrong), or fail on swap/nonswap entries, failing follow_phys() and triggering a WARN_ON_ONCE() in untrack_pfn() and track_pfn_copy(), not properly calling free_pfn_range(). In free_pfn_range(), we either wouldn't call memtype_free() or would call it with the wrong range, possibly leaking memory. To fix that, let's update follow_phys() to refuse returning anon folios, and fallback to using the stored PFN inside vma->vm_pgoff for COW mappings if we run into that. We will now properly handle untrack_pfn() with COW mappings, where we don't need the cachemode. We'll have to fail fork()->track_pfn_copy() if the first page was replaced by an anon folio, though: we'd have to store the cachemode in the VMA to make this work, likely growing the VMA size. For now, lets keep it simple and let track_pfn_copy() just fail in that case: it would have failed in the past with swap/nonswap entries already, and it would have done the wrong thing with anon folios. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065400 commit 24a9799 upstream. The UAF bug is due to smb2_reconnect_server() accessing a session that is already being teared down by another thread that is executing __cifs_put_smb_ses(). This can happen when (a) the client has connection to the server but no session or (b) another thread ends up setting @ses->ses_status again to something different than SES_EXITING. To fix this, we need to make sure to unconditionally set @ses->ses_status to SES_EXITING and prevent any other threads from setting a new status while we're still tearing it down. The following can be reproduced by adding some delay to right after the ipc is freed in __cifs_put_smb_ses() - which will give smb2_reconnect_server() worker a chance to run and then accessing @ses->ipc: kinit ... mount.cifs //srv/share /mnt/1 -o sec=krb5,nohandlecache,echo_interval=10 [disconnect srv] ls /mnt/1 &>/dev/null sleep 30 kdestroy [reconnect srv] sleep 10 umount /mnt/1 ... BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065899 [ Upstream commit 1cca1bd ] Currently buf_len field of ath11k_mhi_config_qca6390 is assigned with 0, making MHI use a default size, 64KB, to allocate channel buffers. This is likely to fail in some scenarios where system memory is highly fragmented and memory compaction or reclaim is not allowed. There is a fail report which is caused by it: kworker/u32:45: page allocation failure: order:4, mode:0x40c00(GFP_NOIO|__GFP_COMP), nodemask=(null),cpuset=/,mems_allowed=0 CPU: 0 PID: 19318 Comm: kworker/u32:45 Not tainted 6.8.0-rc3-1.gae4495f-default sched-ext#1 openSUSE Tumbleweed (unreleased) 493b6d5b382c603654d7a81fc3c144d59a1dfceb Workqueue: events_unbound async_run_entry_fn Call Trace: <TASK> dump_stack_lvl+0x47/0x60 warn_alloc+0x13a/0x1b0 ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 ? __alloc_pages_direct_compact+0xab/0x210 __alloc_pages_slowpath.constprop.0+0xd3e/0xda0 __alloc_pages+0x32d/0x350 ? mhi_prepare_channel+0x127/0x2d0 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] __kmalloc_large_node+0x72/0x110 __kmalloc+0x37c/0x480 ? mhi_map_single_no_bb+0x77/0xf0 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] ? mhi_prepare_channel+0x127/0x2d0 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] mhi_prepare_channel+0x127/0x2d0 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] __mhi_prepare_for_transfer+0x44/0x80 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] ? __pfx_____mhi_prepare_for_transfer+0x10/0x10 [mhi 40df44e07c05479f7a6e7b90fba9f0e0031a7814] device_for_each_child+0x5c/0xa0 ? __pfx_pci_pm_resume+0x10/0x10 ath11k_core_resume+0x65/0x100 [ath11k a5094e22d7223135c40d93c8f5321cf09fd85e4e] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 ath11k_pci_pm_resume+0x32/0x60 [ath11k_pci 830b7bfc3ea80ebef32e563cafe2cb55e9cc73ec] ? srso_alias_return_thunk+0x5/0xfbef5 dpm_run_callback+0x8c/0x1e0 device_resume+0x104/0x340 ? __pfx_dpm_watchdog_handler+0x10/0x10 async_resume+0x1d/0x30 async_run_entry_fn+0x32/0x120 process_one_work+0x168/0x330 worker_thread+0x2f5/0x410 ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 kthread+0xe8/0x120 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork+0x34/0x50 ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 </TASK> Actually those buffers are used only by QMI target -> host communication. And for WCN6855 and QCA6390, the largest packet size for that is less than 6KB. So change buf_len field to 8KB, which results in order 1 allocation if page size is 4KB. In this way, we can at least save some memory, and as well as decrease the possibility of allocation failure in those scenarios. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065899 [ Upstream commit 00af2aa ] Many syzbot reports show extreme rtnl pressure, and many of them hint that smc acquires rtnl in netns creation for no good reason [1] This patch returns early from smc_pnet_net_init() if there is no netdevice yet. I am not even sure why smc_pnet_create_pnetids_list() even exists, because smc_pnet_netdev_event() is also calling smc_pnet_add_base_pnetid() when handling NETDEV_UP event. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2065912 [ Upstream commit c6e77aa ] In case device is having a non fatal FW error during probe, the driver will report the error to user via devlink. This will trigger a WARN_ON, since mlx5 is calling devlink_register() last. In order to avoid the WARN_ON[1], change mlx5 to invoke devl_register() first under devlink lock. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2068087 [ Upstream commit fef9657 ] When disabling aRFS under the `priv->state_lock`, any scheduled aRFS works are canceled using the `cancel_work_sync` function, which waits for the work to end if it has already started. However, while waiting for the work handler, the handler will try to acquire the `state_lock` which is already acquired. The worker acquires the lock to delete the rules if the state is down, which is not the worker's responsibility since disabling aRFS deletes the rules. Add an aRFS state variable, which indicates whether the aRFS is enabled and prevent adding rules when the aRFS is disabled. If too many illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents. When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump packet and soft lockup will be detected. net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate. This thread holds the clk prepare_lock, and is trying to runtime PM resume a device, when it finds that the device is in the process of resuming so the thread schedule()s away waiting for the device to finish resuming before continuing. The second thread is runtime PM resuming the same device, but the runtime resume callback is calling clk_prepare(), trying to grab the prepare_lock waiting on the first thread. This is a classic ABBA deadlock. To properly fix the deadlock, we must never runtime PM resume or suspend a device with the clk prepare_lock held. Actually doing that is near impossible today because the global prepare_lock would have to be dropped in the middle of the tree, the device runtime PM resumed/suspended, and then the prepare_lock grabbed again to ensure consistency of the clk tree topology. If anything changes with the clk tree in the meantime, we've lost and will need to start the operation all over again. Luckily, most of the time we're simply incrementing or decrementing the runtime PM count on an active device, so we don't have the chance to schedule away with the prepare_lock held. Let's fix this immediate problem that can be triggered more easily by simply booting on Qualcomm sc7180. Introduce a list of clk_core structures that have been registered, or are in the process of being registered, that require runtime PM to operate. Iterate this list and call clk_pm_runtime_get() on each of them without holding the prepare_lock during clk_disable_unused(). This way we can be certain that the runtime PM state of the devices will be active and resumed so we can't schedule away while walking the clk tree with the prepare_lock held. Similarly, call clk_pm_runtime_put() without the prepare_lock held to properly drop the runtime PM reference. We remove the calls to clk_pm_runtime_{get,put}() in this path because they're superfluous now that we know the devices are runtime resumed. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2068087 commit 9e985cb upstream. Drop support for virtualizing adaptive PEBS, as KVM's implementation is architecturally broken without an obvious/easy path forward, and because exposing adaptive PEBS can leak host LBRs to the guest, i.e. can leak host kernel addresses to the guest. Bug sched-ext#1 is that KVM doesn't account for the upper 32 bits of IA32_FIXED_CTR_CTRL when (re)programming fixed counters, e.g fixed_ctrl_field() drops the upper bits, reprogram_fixed_counters() stores local variables as u8s and truncates the upper bits too, etc. Bug sched-ext#2 is that, because KVM _always_ sets precise_ip to a non-zero value for PEBS events, perf will _always_ generate an adaptive record, even if the guest requested a basic record. Note, KVM will also enable adaptive PEBS in individual *counter*, even if adaptive PEBS isn't exposed to the guest, but this is benign as MSR_PEBS_DATA_CFG is guaranteed to be zero, i.e. the guest will only ever see Basic records. Bug sched-ext#3 is in perf. intel_pmu_disable_fixed() doesn't clear the upper bits either, i.e. leaves ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE set, and intel_pmu_enable_fixed() effectively doesn't clear ICL_FIXED_0_ADAPTIVE either. I.e. perf _always_ enables ADAPTIVE counters, regardless of what KVM requests. Bug sched-ext#4 is that adaptive PEBS *might* effectively bypass event filters set by the host, as "Updated Memory Access Info Group" records information that might be disallowed by userspace via KVM_SET_PMU_EVENT_FILTER. Bug sched-ext#5 is that KVM doesn't ensure LBR MSRs hold guest values (or at least zeros) when entering a vCPU with adaptive PEBS, which allows the guest to read host LBRs, i.e. host RIPs/addresses, by enabling "LBR Entries" records. Disable adaptive PEBS support as an immediate fix due to the severity of the LBR leak in particular, and because fixing all of the bugs will be non-trivial, e.g. not suitable for backporting to stable kernels. Note! This will break live migration, but trying to make KVM play nice with live migration would be quite complicated, wouldn't be guaranteed to work (i.e. KVM might still kill/confuse the guest), and it's not clear that there are any publicly available VMMs that support adaptive PEBS, let alone live migrate VMs that support adaptive PEBS, e.g. QEMU doesn't support PEBS in any capacity. Every so often pt->memory->ptrs is NULL. This ptrs ptr is set in the nv50_instobj_acquire called from nvkm_kmap. If Thread A and Thread B both get to nv50_instobj_acquire around the same time, and Thread A hits the refcount_set line, and in lockstep thread B succeeds at refcount_inc_not_zero, there is a chance the ptrs value won't have been stored since refcount_set is unordered. Force a memory barrier here, I picked smp_mb, since we want it on all CPUs and it's write followed by a read. v2: use paired smp_rmb/smp_wmb. It would be useful to see what the sched_ext scheduler state is, and what scheduler is running, when we're dumping a task's stack. This patch therefore adds a new print_scx_info() function that's called in the same context as print_worker_info() and print_stop_info(). An example dump follows. …rnel/git/netfilter/nf-next Pablo Neira Ayuso says: ==================== Netfilter updates for net-next The following patchset contains Netfilter updates for net-next: Patch #1 skips transaction if object type provides no .update interface. Patch #2 skips NETDEV_CHANGENAME which is unused. Patch #3 enables conntrack to handle Multicast Router Advertisements and Multicast Router Solicitations from the Multicast Router Discovery protocol (RFC4286) as untracked opposed to invalid packets. From Linus Luessing. Patch #4 updates DCCP conntracker to mark invalid as invalid, instead of dropping them, from Jason Xing. Patch #5 uses NF_DROP instead of -NF_DROP since NF_DROP is 0, also from Jason. Patch #6 removes reference in netfilter's sysctl documentation on pickup entries which were already removed by Florian Westphal. Patch #7 removes check for IPS_OFFLOAD flag to disable early drop which allows to evict entries from the conntrack table, also from Florian. Patches #8 to #16 updates nf_tables pipapo set backend to allocate the datastructure copy on-demand from preparation phase, to better deal with OOM situations where .commit step is too late to fail. Series from Florian Westphal. Patch #17 adds a selftest with packetdrill to cover conntrack TCP state transitions, also from Florian. l2cap_le_flowctl_init() can cause both div-by-zero and an integer overflow since hdev->le_mtu may not fall in the valid range. Move MTU from hci_dev to hci_conn to validate MTU and stop the connection process earlier if MTU is invalid. Also, add a missing validation in read_buffer_size() and make it return an error value if the validation fails. Now hci_conn_add() returns ERR_PTR() as it can fail due to the both a kzalloc failure and invalid MTU value. divide error: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI CPU: 0 PID: 67 Comm: kworker/u5:0 Tainted: G W 6.9.0-rc5+ #20 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.15.0-1 04/01/2014 Workqueue: hci0 hci_rx_work RIP: 0010:l2cap_le_flowctl_init+0x19e/0x3f0 net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:547 Code: e8 17 17 0c 00 66 41 89 9f 84 00 00 00 bf 01 00 00 00 41 b8 02 00 00 00 4c 89 fe 4c 89 e2 89 d9 e8 27 17 0c 00 44 89 f0 31 d2 <66> f7 f3 89 c3 ff c3 4d 8d b7 88 00 00 00 4c 89 f0 48 c1 e8 03 42 RSP: 0018:ffff88810bc0f858 EFLAGS: 00010246 RAX: 00000000000002a0 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: dffffc0000000000 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: ffff88810bc0f7c0 RDI: ffffc90002dcb66f RBP: ffff88810bc0f880 R08: aa69db2dda70ff01 R09: 0000ffaaaaaaaaaa R10: 0084000000ffaaaa R11: 0000000000000000 R12: ffff88810d65a084 R13: dffffc0000000000 R14: 00000000000002a0 R15: ffff88810d65a000 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff88811ac00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000020000100 CR3: 0000000103268003 CR4: 0000000000770ef0 PKRU: 55555554 Call Trace: <TASK> l2cap_le_connect_req net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:4902 [inline] l2cap_le_sig_cmd net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:5420 [inline] l2cap_le_sig_channel net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:5486 [inline] l2cap_recv_frame+0xe59d/0x11710 net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:6809 l2cap_recv_acldata+0x544/0x10a0 net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c:7506 hci_acldata_packet net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:3939 [inline] hci_rx_work+0x5e5/0xb20 net/bluetooth/hci_core.c:4176 process_one_work kernel/workqueue.c:3254 [inline] process_scheduled_works+0x90f/0x1530 kernel/workqueue.c:3335 worker_thread+0x926/0xe70 kernel/workqueue.c:3416 kthread+0x2e3/0x380 kernel/kthread.c:388 ret_from_fork+0x5c/0x90 arch/x86/kernel/process.c:147 ret_from_fork_asm+0x1a/0x30 arch/x86/entry/entry_64.S:244 </TASK> Modules linked in: ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Fixes: 6ed58ec ("Bluetooth: Use LE buffers for LE traffic") Suggested-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.dentz@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Sungwoo Kim <iam@sung-woo.kim> Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>

Billy Jheng Bing-Jhong reported a race between __unix_gc() and queue_oob(). __unix_gc() tries to garbage-collect close()d inflight sockets, and then if the socket has MSG_OOB in unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb, GC will drop the reference and set NULL to it locklessly. However, the peer socket still can send MSG_OOB message and queue_oob() can update unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb concurrently, leading NULL pointer dereference. [0] To fix the issue, let's update unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb under the sk_receive_queue's lock and take it everywhere we touch oob_skb. Note that we defer kfree_skb() in manage_oob() to silence lockdep false-positive (See [1]). When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, we fail to add necessary padding bytes to bug_table entries, and as a result the last entry in a bug table will be ignored, potentially leading to an unexpected panic(). All prior entries in the table will be handled correctly. The arm64 ABI requires that struct fields of up to 8 bytes are naturally-aligned, with padding added within a struct such that struct are suitably aligned within arrays. When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERPOSE=y, the layout of a bug_entry is: struct bug_entry { signed int bug_addr_disp; // 4 bytes signed int file_disp; // 4 bytes unsigned short line; // 2 bytes unsigned short flags; // 2 bytes } ... with 12 bytes total, requiring 4-byte alignment. When CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, the layout of a bug_entry is: struct bug_entry { signed int bug_addr_disp; // 4 bytes unsigned short flags; // 2 bytes < implicit padding > // 2 bytes } ... with 8 bytes total, with 6 bytes of data and 2 bytes of trailing padding, requiring 4-byte alginment. When we create a bug_entry in assembly, we align the start of the entry to 4 bytes, which implicitly handles padding for any prior entries. However, we do not align the end of the entry, and so when CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE=n, the final entry lacks the trailing padding bytes. For the main kernel image this is not a problem as find_bug() doesn't depend on the trailing padding bytes when searching for entries: for (bug = __start___bug_table; bug < __stop___bug_table; ++bug) if (bugaddr == bug_addr(bug)) return bug; However for modules, module_bug_finalize() depends on the trailing bytes when calculating the number of entries: mod->num_bugs = sechdrs[i].sh_size / sizeof(struct bug_entry); ... and as the last bug_entry lacks the necessary padding bytes, this entry will not be counted, e.g. in the case of a single entry: sechdrs[i].sh_size == 6 sizeof(struct bug_entry) == 8; sechdrs[i].sh_size / sizeof(struct bug_entry) == 0; Consequently module_find_bug() will miss the last bug_entry when it does: for (i = 0; i < mod->num_bugs; ++i, ++bug) if (bugaddr == bug_addr(bug)) goto out; ... which can lead to a kenrel panic due to an unhandled bug. This can be demonstrated with the following module: static int __init buginit(void) { WARN(1, "hello\n"); return 0; } static void __exit bugexit(void) { } module_init(buginit); module_exit(bugexit); MODULE_LICENSE("GPL"); ... which will trigger a kernel panic when loaded: ------------[ cut here ]------------ hello Unexpected kernel BRK exception at EL1 Internal error: BRK handler: 00000000f2000800 [#1] PREEMPT SMP Modules linked in: hello(O+) CPU: 0 PID: 50 Comm: insmod Tainted: G O 6.9.1 #8 Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) pstate: 60400005 (nZCv daif +PAN -UAO -TCO -DIT -SSBS BTYPE=--) pc : buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] lr : buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] sp : ffff800080533ae0 x29: ffff800080533ae0 x28: 0000000000000000 x27: 0000000000000000 x26: ffffaba8c4e70510 x25: ffff800080533c30 x24: ffffaba8c4a28a58 x23: 0000000000000000 x22: 0000000000000000 x21: ffff3947c0eab3c0 x20: ffffaba8c4e3f000 x19: ffffaba846464000 x18: 0000000000000006 x17: 0000000000000000 x16: ffffaba8c2492834 x15: 0720072007200720 x14: 0720072007200720 x13: ffffaba8c49b27c8 x12: 0000000000000312 x11: 0000000000000106 x10: ffffaba8c4a0a7c8 x9 : ffffaba8c49b27c8 x8 : 00000000ffffefff x7 : ffffaba8c4a0a7c8 x6 : 80000000fffff000 x5 : 0000000000000107 x4 : 0000000000000000 x3 : 0000000000000000 x2 : 0000000000000000 x1 : 0000000000000000 x0 : ffff3947c0eab3c0 Call trace: buginit+0x18/0x1000 [hello] do_one_initcall+0x80/0x1c8 do_init_module+0x60/0x218 load_module+0x1ba4/0x1d70 __do_sys_init_module+0x198/0x1d0 __arm64_sys_init_module+0x1c/0x28 invoke_syscall+0x48/0x114 el0_svc_common.constprop.0+0x40/0xe0 do_el0_svc+0x1c/0x28 el0_svc+0x34/0xd8 el0t_64_sync_handler+0x120/0x12c el0t_64_sync+0x190/0x194 Code: d0ffffe0 910003fd 91000000 9400000b (d4210000) ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]--- Kernel panic - not syncing: BRK handler: Fatal exception Fix this by always aligning the end of a bug_entry to 4 bytes, which is correct regardless of CONFIG_DEBUG_BUGVERBOSE. While running scx_example_dummy I get error from verifier.
The actual error that i see here after running is.
This error message "kernel function scx_bpf_dispatch args#0 expected pointer to STRUCT task_struct but R1 has a pointer to STRUCT task_struct" doesn't make sense. bpf code scx_bpf_dispatch as well as kernel scx_bpf_dispatch both does have task_struct pointer as #arg0.
Is there anything that i did wrong ?? Please let me know if you do need further information?
