The "metadata-generation-failed" error when i install the development version on CentOs

I try to install the develop version on my plantform(CentOs), following with the document of sklearn here. I get the such error below when i went to the fifth step "5.Build the project with pip in Editable mode"

anyone konw how to solve it? Thanks !

Are you trying to build an old scikit-learn version (I see 0.21.3 somewhere)?
If so, we have to change the setup.py to be compatible with newer setuptools and pip and you need to downgrade those packages as well.

Yes, i try to install the old version(0.21.3) to do some comparition.Can you give more details about how to down those packages to the compatible version? thanks.
