IE cookies won't be cleared when start the new WebDriver session.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run a test case to login a website
2. run the test case again

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to run the test case successfully.
But the case failed because the web page shows the user is logged in already.


Selenium version: 2.0rc3
OS: WinXP
Browser: IE
Brower version: 8.0


Please provide any additional information below. A sample reduced test
case, or a public URL that demonstrates the problem will intrigue our merry
band of Open Source developers far more than nothing at all: they'll be far
more likely to look at your problem if you make it easy for them!

Create your IE instance like so:

DesiredCapabilities caps = DesiredCapabilities.internetExplorer();
caps.setCapability(CapabilityType.ForSeleniumServer.ENSURING_CLEAN_SESSION, true);
WebDriver driver = new InternetExplorerDriver(caps);

This should clear the cookies before starting IE. Please confirm that this works as
intended for you.

Can you provide a sample test-case on a public facing website we can reproduce this
on?

What are you doing to "start a new WebDriver session"? You should either have a call
to driver.quit() (NOT driver.close()), or perhaps a manual call to delete the cookies
(driver.manage().deleteAllCookies())

When the case exit normally, it will clear the cookie since I have written the driver.manage().deleteAllCookies()
in the end of my case. But if the case exit unnormally, such as when I stop debugging
in the middle of the test case. Next time, when I run the case, it will have this issue.
And driver.manage().deleteAllCookies() can only be used after the web page was opened.
And my test case will cover several domains, how can I make sure all the cookies are
cleared in the beginning of the test case?

Are you calling driver.quit() and then constructing a new driver between the failing
test and the next test?

The program exited already, how can I call driver.quit? In the normal process, I will
call driver.quit() definitely. It won't have this kind of problem.

If you are using JUnit or similar, use a tearDown method (in JUnit3, override the TestCase#tearDown
method in your test class, if JUnit4, use a method annotated with @After

Depending on your test framework, you may have to do a little work to know whether
your test failed, or the information may be provided for you easily.



As an alternative to all of this, if you clear cookies *before* each test, rather than
after, failure of one test won't affect other tests.

Hi ,
I have a question on deleteAllCookies and ENSURING_CLEAN_SESSION
In case i have multiple selenium scripts running in parallel on Firefox(or any other
Browser) and i use DeleteAllCookies  or ENSURING_CLEAN_SESSION in one of the script,
will it delete the cookies for other browser sessions as well??
If yes, then how can i delete the current browser session cookies only and not all
the cookies used by other sessions of same browser?

looks like both using ENSURING_CLEAN_SESSION or DeleteAllCookies are not working. I
am using IE 8 on Windows 7.

I am using IE 8 on Windows 7 , and not work too.
I have to restart IE after calling DeleteAllCookies each time, and it seams works.
But it's slowly.
