I believe all that this feature does in other *sonic servers is loading all of the songs into an m3u8 playlist, and allows a player to read it.

the config option is documented in the readme https://github.com/sentriz/gonic#configuration-options

I think that thats only for user-created playlists. I was looking for a way to add my entire library as a playlist, and have it served over http by gonic. (i think the other *sonic servers do this)

not sure i've heard of this. can you link to an example of another subsonic server doing that?

i cant exactly link it, but subsonic supports winamp through the "external player with playlist" option

from the subsonic website -

Works with any network-enabled media player, such as Winamp, iTunes, XMMS, VLC, MusicMatch and Windows Media Player. Also includes an embedded Flash player.

still hard more info on this. is the feature still supported in something like https://github.com/airsonic-advanced/airsonic-advanced ?

(airsonic-advanced is the most active fork of the original subsonic codebase)

not sure if i can find where it's implemented, as im not familiar with the airsonic-advanced codebase
