🎉 Next Version of camera.ui: Development Update & Community Input 🎉 #448
Comments
🎉🎉🎉 long waited for this! |
Nice to see that You continue development of this incredible plugin, I’m awaiting on first public beta test. |
There's no preference for what you find easiest, but Node/NPM suits me perfectly. |
That can be easily added to the HomeKit integration, I'll add this to my to-do list 👍 |
In my setup I have 3 reolink cameras and camera.ui is running on an old Mac mini with Proxmox. |
Hey everyone! I quickly put together a Discord server to improve communication about the next version. It's not super busy right now, but feel free to use the server to post ideas or suggestions. I'll also be sharing new updates there from time to time. The Alpha version is currently being tested by a few people. Discord: https://discord.gg/YDRSqbCZ |
Raspberry Pi (with Homebridge installed)
Two INSTAR IN-5907HD-PoE |
Just ending testing the installation on Raspberry Pi with Homebridge. 😉 |
🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀 Good news!!! Installation on macOS, Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, Raspbian, etc. will take place using only one simple command in the terminal! Installation on Raspberry Pi where Homebrridge is already installed, also using one simple command in the terminal (only a little different command). 🎉🎉🎉🎉 |
Will new version be open sourced? Would it be possible to add support for camera events over ONVIF protocol ? There is npm packages which can be reused https://www.npmjs.com/package/onvif for this purpose. |
@seydx Thanks It'll be cool to add support for OpenAI compatible API backends to annotate the recordings |

What will happen with current cameras in legacy Camera.UI via homebridge when there will be public update available to this new version? Will they be deleted or will they transfer to new version? |
The new version is written from scratch, so I suspect it will not be an update, but the installation of a new version, and setup from scratch. But the current version will certainly not update automatically - nothing will happen without your action. |
Thanks and what is correct procedure to uninstall old Camera.UI from homebridge and system (server running on Mac OS). When I uninstall just HB plugin, will it also stop Camera.UI server and uninstalls it? |
|
Is it possible to publish a beta version now? Could this then be installed in the usual way via Homebridge? |
|
I think I will wait for the Homebridge plugin. |
Same |
As requested from @seydx comment above, "Gathering community feedback and ideas..." I read a post on Reddit wrt Camera Ui --> https://www.reddit.com/r/homebridge/comments/saz4f5/camera_ui_and_hksv/ Will there be updates/features to avoid having this? ----> "Apple/HKSV needs some time to sync, the best would be after enabling HKSV in your config.json to restart your Hub and disable/enable „Stream & Record“ within Home App multiple times" |
Which plugin? |
https://github.com/seydx/homebridge-camera-ui this is the old Plugin. Will there be a new plugin or an update? |
I'm moving onto Scrypted. Camera ui won't allow notifications for my Armcrest cameras. |
