Week 1

The evening trainings and readings below will help you solidify work so far and/or prepare you for the next day's materials.

Monday

Link to submit on tonight's pulse check: none

  1. Complete installfest to set up your machine for the course.

  2. Complete the WDI fundamentals check in to hand in on WEDNESDAY MORNING! This should help you review some important topics from fundamentals and give us a better idea of what to review with the class or individuals.

  3. Watch Growth Mindset TED Talk and think about how you can apply a growth mindset to your life as a developer!

Tuesday

Link to submit on tonight's pulse check: none

  1. Read through http://learnlayout.com/ and look carefully at the examples. This should take about 30-45 minutes.

  2. Spend ~45 min - 1 hour on this site-recreation layout activity.

  3. Spend ~45 min - 1 hour completing at least the Security Questions portion in JavaScript Control Flow

Bonus activity: look ahead at tomorrow’s functions lesson - if you still have time/energy.

Remember your personal portfolio is due Friday!

Wednesday

Link to submit on tonight's pulse check: control flow training link (your forked repository on GitHub).

  1. For about 1-1.5 Hours - Continue working on the Javascript Functions Training. Don't forget to look at the solutions if you get too stuck!

  2. Work on your personal portfolio project, which is due Friday!

Optional: Look ahead at the lessons for tomorrow, DOM Manipulation and DOM Events

Thursday

Link to submit on tonight's pulse check: Javascript Functions Training

  1. Complete the jQuery DOM lab and look through the solutions.
  2. Look over the solutions branch of the debugging lab. Look at the commits on the solution branch to see the changes made to fix the site at each stage.
  3. Complete Ready, Click, and then Submit (if you have time) in DOM Events and jQuery
  4. Personal portfolio website!! DUE TOMORROW.
  5. Please look over your Fundamentals Review packet and the solutions.
  6. Finally, review the Week One Objectives and come in tomorrow with two questions you need more information on!

Weekend
