Hi My name is Shamsuddeen Hassan Muhammad

I am a PhD student at the University of Porto and am generally interested in low-resource African NLP. My research topics include sentiment analysis, hate speech detection, transfer learning, and language modelling. I am also faculty member at Bayero University, Kano - Nigeria.

I am the founder of Arewa Data Science Academy, an initiative to train and mentor young data scientists in Northern Nigeria. I also co-founded HausaNLP, a community that promotes NLP for Hausa languages.
