There are so many interesting topics in this world. Let's not limit ourselves to just tech and science!

I think the only non-{tech,science} list we have here is the Economics list.

Examples:

Please share more ideas!

More to add to examples:

  • gardening (maybe named awesome green thumb?)
  • "do it yourself"(kinda like a non tech version of the self hosting list) (awesome DIY
  • decoration (awesome decor)

I just created awesome-guitar, for all things guitar related. I would love help pushing resources to the list if anyone has suggestions!

@d3viant0ne I would contribute to a skateboarding list.

I could probably contribute to a historical skateboarding list at this point. My information & experience is a bit dated to say the lease :)

I'd love to have something like awesome-{$instrumentName}. I see @btnwtn already created for guitar, I'll probably create one for vocals.

For those who love Rubik's Cube - awesome-rubiks-cube

@sindresorhus But a major issue in creating non-{tech,science} awesome-lists will be lack of contribution from real enthusiasts of that corresponding lists.

For example, for the above rubik's list, there will be comparatively few cubers who use Github. These cubers are the ones who actually have a lot resources/links and experience.

Problem: How would we combat lack of contribution to these non-tech awesome-lists?

Note: I might be wrong over here but just my thoughts :)

Talk to people about their non-tech hobbies. Or hit up the various StackExchange chatrooms (they have exactly the kind of experts you want, and many already know how to use Markdown, if not GitHub).

@nirajpandkar Great question. From the top of my head;

  • You could allow people to send suggestions per email or Google Forms.
  • Gather resources yourself from places the experts in that field hang out.
  • Encourage them to use GitHub (unlikely, but still worth a try).

I've started awesome-succulents a few days ago. It covers identification, cultivation, and more information on growing succulent plants 🌵

It still needs a little bit more content, but so far I've got the best sources I know covered. Any help is appreciated!

I will add it in the next week when everything is little bit more polished.
Can anyone tell me if the list good enough to add here?

About the problem that non-techies don't use GitHub:

How about building a frontend?

For example, something like the frontend I've built for a list of react components (http://devarchy.com/react-components / #767). It doesn't require any GitHub skills to add an entry to the list. (Once approved, the entry is automatically added to the list on GitHub.)

I was not aware non-tech stuff was allowed. Perhaps we could make this more clear somehow? Maybe we just need to start getting more of these lists added to the main one.

  • Automotive
  • Buddhism

@johnjago I will create a PR that adds a link to https://github.com/buddha-dharma/buddhism as soon as I've made sure the quality meets the standard and I am done reading the contribution guide.

Update: My List does not yet comply with https://github.com/sindresorhus/awesome/blob/master/create-list.md completely so I will need to put some more work into it. I've created an issue in our bugtracker for it buddha-dharma/buddhism#4

@hhirsch I have already started awesome-theravada, and your list could cover Buddhism more broadly. I will make some contributions to it when I have time.
