Mainnet migration

The Skywire mainnet is currently only available for developers to test and help us to debug the software. Therefore, the testnet will continue as it is and miners should not switch to the mainnet version on their miners. Deinstalling the testnet software from their miners might affect their reward eligibility for as long as they are not running the testnet. As soon as the migration from testnet to mainnet is required, we will announce this change over relevant channels.

The migration from the testnet to the mainnet depends on two factors: The stability of the mainnet and the availability of all relevant guides and mechanisms for the actual migration. We are going to continue testing the mainnet and will integrate it with a new Manager UI soon, which allows advanced management of the nodes in mainnet. As soon as the applications are runnning smoothly and are fully usable, the manager integration has been completed and we have tested extensively the mechanisms and guides for migration, the testnet will be discontinued. Official miners will continue to be eligible for rewards in the mainnet depending on their miner batch. (Rewards for miners bought in the store might be different than for other official miners.) There will be a sufficiently long transition period, during which miners will need to change to mainnet software.

More information on the exact dates for the mainnet migration, transition period and guides for migration will become available in the coming weeks.
