About

This is a collection of extfs helpers for Midnight Commander. Some of the helpers are alternatives to the stock scripts, others provide new features.

Installation

Extract the archive or clone the repo somewhere. Change into the dir and run install-symlinks.sh there to create symlinks, pointing to the scripts, under ~/.local/share/mc/extfs.d

For each helper you want to use, check its particular README for details and dependencies and make sure the deps are satisfied.

For each helper you want to use, you need to tell mc it should utilize the script to open the relevant file type. In mc menu, open Command -> Edit extension file. Next:

iso9660-sp

Find ISO9660 section and

replace

Open=%cd %p/iso9660://

with

Open=%cd %p/iso9660-sp://

u7z-sp

Find 7zip section and

replace

Open=%cd %p/u7z://

with

Open=%cd %p/u7z-sp://

usqfs-sp

Add such snippet under ### Archives ###:

up to mc 4.8.28

Restart mc to apply the changes.

Uninstallation

In mc menu, open Command -> Edit extension file and undo all the changes made earlier. After that, delete *-sp symlinks from ~/.local/share/mc/extfs.d

Restart mc to apply the changes.
