Use HTTPS links/examples wherever possible in README #351

This pull request updates the README to update a bunch of old URLs to use https:// where possible (and in some cases, updated to follow redirects) and to favor https:// in the example text and CDN default URL.

As a note, I personally verified that every changed URL works correctly under https:// (with the exception of the mydomain.com example, which is not a working URL under either protocol).
