format HOWTO for better readability

This is a duplicate of merge request #6 at gitorious, because I'm not sure which is the canonical repository. This github is linked from electrum-desktop.org, while gitorious seems more active.

Would it be cool if a future commit renamed this file to .mkd or .md so that Github will format it nicely on display?

I'm also willing to do at least the format if not also the rename on the other plain text documentation. Alright?

Yeah I wanted to actually rename it this morning but real life took over
