Astral is a free tool for organizing your ever-growing list of GitHub stars. I started building it sometime in 2014, and officially launched it to the public in 2015. To my surprise, it garnered thousands of users in its first few days, and made it to the front page of Hacker News, Product Hunt and r/webdev as well! It currently has over 20,000 users with over 1,500,000 stars tagged! Bonkers.
I love GitHub and the community around it, and I wanted to give back to a community that has given so much, which is why I offer Astral to all users free of charge. However, the reality is I am paying for all the server, domain, etc. costs out of pocket, and as the sole developer, sink a lot of my own time into the upkeep of the app itself. I currently work a full-time job, and all of Astral's development and upkeep happens on my personal evenings and weekends.
If you use and love Astral, consider pledging any amount you would like to support the ongoing development of the project, and help cover some of the infrastructure costs to run it. It will ensure that I can justify spending the time and resources to maintain and improve a service that thousands of people love and use every day!
Thanks so much! Star on friends. 🌟
