Hi, my ros version is kinetic, when I try to install bag_tools package by "sudo apt-get install ros-kinetic-bag-tools" but I got the error:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package ros-kinetic-bag-tools is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'ros-kinetic-bag-tools' has no installation candidate
How to slove this problem? Is that mean bag_tools package does not support kinetic any more? Thanks a lot!

I have this issue too. I can install tf_tools, pointcloud_tools, plot_tools, and launch_tools, but bag_tools gives the error above and srv_tools won't install because bag_tools won't install.

Having the same problem. For those searching for a workaround, you can install it from source.

Create a catkin workspace:

mkdir -p catkin_ws/src
cd catkin_ws/src

Now clone this repo:

git clone https://github.com/srv/srv_tools.git . (dont forget the dot)

Make sure dependecies are installed:

cd ..
rosdep install --from-paths src --ignore-src --rosdistro kinetic (change your ros distro if nessacary)

Install:

catkin_make

Dont forget to overlay over your current ros environment:

source devel/setup.bash

Thanks for the build/install instructions @mhubii they are helpful.

I suggest two modifications to your procedure:

  1. if you clone into a pre-existing catkin_ws/src, mkdir an empty directory to clone into
  2. Install only that package, with catkin_make install --pkg bag_tools
(or launch_tools or any of the others)

I updated the ROS wiki page for srv_tools and bag_tools with installation instructions
