I'm trying to help stoli, but have been very busy the past couple weeks. I'm just about done with adding Customizable home menu's and will try to send it to him this week.

This might be a bit off topic, and I also realize this is very much a personal preference, but I feel that the default set of menu items should be tweaked a bit. At least the order of the items. Based on my own htpc usage, as well as that of a few friends I would have the first items be (in this order): Movies, TV, Videos, Music, Pictures...

More importantly though, I really think the submenu item "Recent" should be at the top of each submenu. This is used very frequently.

As I said, this is very much a case of personal preference, but any thoughts regarding the defaults?

No worries. I haven't even sat down to watch a show let alone code the skin. I hope that will be changing quite a bit for me in the coming weeks.

Most recent should be at the top. I'd really like to figure a way to allow users to select the menu order but it's just not possible as far as I can see... Hmmm I may be able to at least setfocus on a specific menu item... May have to play with code tonight. :)

Yea I think the order should be revised as well. I'm trying for add/ remove
all options that are current plus 5 favorites per submenu(tv,movies). Ill
see what other skins have and make one the seems to be most common, or is
like neon/aeon options.

Hope that made some sense!

A user on the forums also requested that the link for the Music home menu item could be configured to point to Genres instead of Artists. I propose something even more generic could be done at the same time custom home menu items are implemented.

I've partially addressed this recently. Can someone elaborate on exactly the level of customization they want to see? Is this as broad as being able to change the Home menu entirely, or maybe I've already addressed the primary complaints...?

I am working on adding custom addon shortcuts to the Add-ons menu now as well. This, combined with the customizations to Music and Pictures, and the new submenu items and changes to Movies and TV Shows, might be enough.

I'll wait a while for comments on the forums and here, of course.

As of 454c5b2 we're almost all the way there. I still want to add the ability to add Favourites items as well before I close this. Just FYI.

Sounds good. I haven't had a chance to test any of it yet. Next week I'm on 'vacation' so I will be active with this for at least a few days. Great work!

Hopefully I'll be able to finish this up this weekend. Been kinda busy but there's not a whole lot left to do for this.

Commit 3740bd2 marks what I think is the resolution of this issue. I'm sure it could be extended further, and honestly we won't satisfy everyone until every pixel on the screen can be customized, but... it's Good Enough at this point in my opinion.

@stoli, if you're happy with it, either close the issue or I'll do so in about a week to see if there is more user feedback on it.

Issue #125 addresses the last remaining thing I want to add for this, so this Issue can be closed I believe.

Closing this as I think I've addressed the issue as a whole. Any complaints that come in I'll add as separate issues.
