Kaggle is a platform for predictive modelling and analytics competitions in which companies and researchers post data and statisticians and data miners compete to produce the best models for predicting and describing the data.

a. Passenger Screening Algorithm Challenge

Desctiption:
In this competition, TSA is stepping outside their established procurement process and is challenging the broader data science community to help improve the accuracy of their threat prediction algorithms. Using a dataset of images collected on the latest generation of scanners, participants are challenged to identify the presence of simulated threats under a variety of object types, clothing types, and body types.

Prize:

b. Zillow Prize: Zillow’s Home Value Prediction (Zestimate)

Description:
Zestimates are estimated home values based on 7.5 million statistical and machine learning models that analyze hundreds of data points on each property. And, by continually improving the median margin of error (from 14% at the onset to 5% today)

Prize:

• First Round Prizes: $50,000 U.S. Dollars
• First Place Prize - $25,000 USD
• Second Place Prize - $15,000 USD

2. 8th International Cybersecurity Data Mining Competition (CDMC 2017)

Description:
The CDMC 2017 at ICONP is a challenging, multi-month research and practice competition, focusing on application of knowledge discovery techniques to solve advanced, real-world problems. The competition is open to multi-person teams worldwide. Contestants are invited to participate in solving a set of problems in fields of cybersecurity, text mining, image processing, etc.

Prize:
We have set cash prizes for the competition. The top ranking teams of all data mining tasks will be eligible to win a cash prize of NZ $3000. Additional prizes may be available as travel grants for deserving participants to help them attend the ICONIP 2017 conference and the DMC 2017 workshop. The award ceremony of the competition will be held at the grand banquet of ICONIP, where the winner of the CDMC will be awarded in front of all the audience and honorable guests of the conference.
